I AM
There are many in the world, including some who call themselves “Christians,” who believe that Jesus is little more than a great man who taught people how to love and be nice to one another. These people have either never read the Scriptures, especially the New Testament, or choose to ignore what they read. He claimed to be equal with the Father, telling the scribes and Pharisees in John 8.56, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day.”
When Moses was confronted by God at the burning bush in Exodus 3, He told Moses to tell the people of Israel that “I Am” sent him. This is the covenant Name of God. It is the Name through which He revealed Himself to His people. It speaks of His glory, His majesty, His power and His authority to reign in the hearts of mankind.
The Summer Sermon Series is “I Am”. For ten weeks we will look at the Names and titles He claimed for Himself. We will look at Jesus’ claims to be the Light of the world, the Bread of life, the Door, the Good Shepherd, the Way…Truth…Life, the True Vine, and the Resurrection and the Life. We will explore what these titles mean and how they should be applied to our lives today.
It is our prayer that after this series of sermons we will have a better understanding, and an appreciation that lead to greater worship, of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do not miss this series. If you are out of town for vacation you can always find the sermons here on the Olivet website.
